「第31週(8月2日~8日)には、インフルエンザ様疾患による外来および救急外来受診者数は92,075人回、前週比2.4%の微増となり、最近は緩やかな増加の趨勢にある;

The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) stated today (August 11) that monitoring data shows the domestic influenza epidemic has gradually intensified since early July.
Over the past four weeks, the number of outpatient and emergency room visits, and the percentage of cases treated have continued to rise, with young children and those aged 65 and above having the highest outpatient visit rates.
Regarding cluster outbreaks, the number of reported upper respiratory tract infection clusters has increased recently.
Influenza-positive clusters are predominantly of type A and are mainly concentrated in densely populated institutions. Recent community virus surveillance shows that type A H1N1 is the most prevalent (accounting for 57%).
Furthermore, the number of severe influenza complications and deaths has also been on the rise recently, mostly among those aged 65 and above, those with a history of chronic diseases, and those who have not received this season’s influenza vaccine.
CDC pointed out
that during week 31 (August 2-8), 92,075 outpatient and emergency room visits for influenza-like illnesses were recorded, a slight increase of 2.4% compared to the previous week, showing a recent slow upward trend;
Additionally, last week (August 4-10), 70 new cases of severe influenza complications were reported (64 H1N1, 2 H3N2, and 4 unidentified A cases) and 12 deaths were reported (8 H1N1, 1 H3N2, 2 unidentified A cases, and 1 B case).
Laboratory surveillance data shows that the predominant influenza virus circulating in the community is type A, accounting for 83.7%. This 2025-2026 flu season saw a total of 995 severe cases (401 H1N1, 481 H3N2, 24 untyped A, and 89 type B) and 188 deaths (71 H1N1, 101 H3N2, 5 untyped A, and 11 type B).
Many severe cases were among those aged 65 and over (63%) and those with a history of chronic diseases (82%). 73% of the patients had not received the flu vaccine this season
CDC stated
that currently, publicly funded influenza medications are distributed to approximately 4,000 contracted medical institutions nationwide, as planned by the health bureaus of various counties and cities (see the CDC’s global information website https://www.cdc.gov.tw or the CDC’s “Influenza and COVID-19 Vaccine and Influenza Medication Map” webpage https://vaxmap.cdc.gov.tw/).
The medications included Tamiflu, ibuprofen, and Relenza.
If any dangerous symptoms occur (such as shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, cyanosis, hemoptysis, chest pain, altered consciousness, low blood pressure, etc.), seek medical attention immediately.
The physician will assess whether the patient meets the criteria for publicly funded medication based on the patient’s chief complaint and clinical judgment.
The physician will assess whether the patient meets the criteria for publicly funded medication based on the patient’s chief complaint and clinical judgment.
Furthermore, since antiviral influenza medications are not currently covered by National Health Insurance, the timing and necessity of publicly funded medication treatment are still determined by the physician based on the patient’s condition and clinical expertise.
CDC calls on the public
to strengthen their awareness of self-prevention, practice hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, and, to protect their own health and the health of others, if they experience respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, or sore throat, they should stay home and avoid unnecessary outings.
When going out, remember to wear a mask.
Furthermore, the public is advised to wear masks when entering medical care facilities, in crowded places where proper social distancing cannot be maintained or in poorly ventilated areas, and when in close contact with the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
CDC reminds people again
that never underestimate the severity of influenza, and practice good personal hygiene, including frequent handwashing and proper cough etiquette.
Wear a mask if you have respiratory symptoms;
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or handkerchief when sneezing, or use your sleeve;
Maintain a distance of at least one meter when talking to others. If you have flu-like symptoms, seek medical attention at your nearest medical facility

第31週(8/2-8/8)類流感門急診就診計92,075人次,較前一週略升2.4%,近期呈緩升趨勢;
