疾病管制署（以下疾管署）は本日（8月18日）「9月には全レベルの学校が再開されるが、それはCOVID-19の流行が依然ピークを迎えていると予想され、校内での感染リスク低減にむけ各校には生徒に対する手部の衛生と咳エチケットの徹底など良好な健康教育を強化してほしい；
同時に、環境の衛生と教室の換気通風に留意し、もし、発熱や咳、鼻水、咽頭痛などの呼吸器症状が現れた場合、マスク着用の上、急いで医療機関を受診するとともに、キャンパス内での感染拡大防止のため、極力自宅で安静にすることを推奨する」と発表した。
疾管署の監視データによると、
疾管署は、「2026年8月17日現在、今季の新型コロナウイルス用ワクチン接種者累計は約181万2千人回となっており、65歳以上の接種率は、初回接種完了者が21.28%（僅か0.06％しか増えていない）、2回目完了者が1.08%となっている。
台湾では、新型コロナウイルスワクチン約12万4千回分が備蓄されているが、解凍後の有効期間の関係もあり、今シーズンのワクチン提供は本年9月9日までとなっているため、国民、特に高齢者や重症化リスクのある人々に対し、免疫力を高め、感染後の合併症による重篤化や死亡

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) stated today (Aug. 18) that schools at all levels will reopen in September, at which time the COVID-19 pandemic will still be in its prevalent phase.
To reduce the risk of transmission on campus, the CDC urges schools to strengthen the promotion of good hygiene practices such as hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette among students, and to pay attention to environmental cleanliness and ventilation in classrooms.
If students experience fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, or other respiratory symptoms, they are advised to wear a mask, seek medical attention immediately, and rest at home as much as possible to prevent the spread of the virus on campus.
According to data from CDC,
the epidemic in Taiwan is still on the rise, and in week 32 (Aug. 9- Aug. 15), there were 26,214 outpatient and emergency room visits related to COVID-19, a 4.5% increase compared to the previous week (Aug. 2-Aug. 8);
Last week (Aug. 11- Aug. 17), there were 84 new locally transmitted severe cases and 12 local deaths. Since October 2025, there have been a cumulative total of 421 locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 complicated by severe illness, including 54 deaths.
Many severe cases were among those aged 65 and above (73.9%) and those with a history of chronic diseases (83.6%). 88.8% of these cases had not received the COVID-19 vaccine this season;
In the past four weeks, the predominant variant strain in locally transmitted cases has been PQ.16.1.1.
The global positivity rate is on the rise, with increases in Europe and Africa, while the Western Pacific region remains at a plateau.
The COVID-19 situation is rising in the United States, fluctuating around a relatively high point in Japan, with the situation in South Korea remaining stable, China reaching its peak and then declining weekly, and Hong Kong’s situation continuing to decline. Recently, the most prevalent variant strain globally is PQ.16.1.1, followed by NB.1.8.1 and XFG.
CDC pointed out
that as of August 17, 2026, approximately 1.812 million people have received COVID-19 vaccines this season. The vaccination rates for those aged 65 and above are 21.28% for the first dose and 1.08% for the second dose.
There are currently about 124,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in stock in Taiwan.
Due to the shelf life after thawing, the COVID-19 vaccine available this season will be available until September 9th.
People who need to be vaccinated, especially the elderly and those with severe risk factors, are advised to seize the opportunity to get vaccinated as soon as possible to enhance their immune protection and reduce the risk of developing severe

疾病管制署(下稱疾管署)今(18)日表示，各級學校將於九月開學，屆時新冠疫情仍將處於流行期，為降低於校園內傳播之風險，籲請各級學校加強宣導學生手部衛生與呼吸道禮節等良好衛生觀念，並注意環境清潔衛生及保持教室通風，倘出現發燒或咳嗽、流鼻涕、喉嚨痛等呼吸道症狀建議佩戴口罩儘速就醫，並儘量在家休息，防範疫情於校園傳播。
依據疾管署監測資料顯示，
國內新冠肺炎疫情持續上升， 第32週(8/9-8/15)新冠門急診就診計26,214人次，較上週(8/2-8/8)上升4.5% ；上週(8/11-8/17)新增84例本土重症病例及12例本土死亡病例。
去(2025)年10月起累計421例新冠併發重症本土病例，其中54例死亡，重症病例以65歲以上長者(占73.9%)及具慢性病史者(占83.6%)為多，88.8%未接種本季新冠疫苗；近4週本土病例變異株以PQ.16.1.1為主。
全球陽性率呈上升趨勢，歐、非洲區呈上升趨勢，西太平洋區仍處高原期。美國疫情上升，日本處相對高點上下波動，韓國疫情持平，中國達高峰後單週下降，香港疫情持續下降；
近期全球流行變異株以PQ.16.1.1為主，其次為NB.1.8.1及XFG。
疾管署指出，
截至今(2026)年8月17日，本季新冠疫苗接種累計約181.2萬人次，65歲以上長者接種率分別為第1劑21.28%、第2劑1.08%。
全國新冠疫苗庫存尚餘約12.4萬劑，由於解凍後效期因素，本季新冠疫苗提供接種至今年9月9日止，提醒有接種需求民眾特別是年長者及具重症風險因子者，把握機會儘速接種，以提升免疫
