疾病管制署は本日（10月17日）、「苗栗県で今年初のデング熱患者が発生した。患者は苗栗県竹南鎮に住む30代男性で、10月7日に発熱や筋肉痛、腰痛、下痢、発疹が現れ、病院を受診したところ、10月16日にデング熱1型ウイルスと診断されたが、新北市新店区で発生したデング熱クラスターのウイルス型（2型）とは異なるものだ。現時点で、患者は自宅で防蚊隔離中であるが、濃厚接触者は全員無症状だ」と発表した。

The Department of Disease Control and Prevention announced today (October 17) that the first local case of dengue fever in Miaoli County this year was a man in his 30s living in Zhunan Town, Miaoli County. He developed fever, muscle aches, back pain, diarrhea, rash and other symptoms on October 7 and sought medical treatment. 疾病管制署今(17)日公布苗栗縣今年首例本土登革熱病例，為居住苗栗縣竹南鎮30多歲男性，10月7日起出現發燒、肌肉痠痛、背痛、腹瀉、紅疹等症狀而就醫，經通報及採檢送驗後於10月16日確診感染登革熱第一型病毒，與新北新店中和本土登革熱群聚病毒型別(第二型)不同。個案目前於住家防蚊隔離中，密切接觸者目前皆無症狀。
