疾病管制署（以下、疾管署）は本日（8月20日）「複数の監視手法によりCOVID-19の流行が効果的に制御できていることを考慮し、病院の報告負荷軽減のため、専門家との協議を経て、「重症特殊感染性肺炎」の名称を「重症COVID-19合併症」に修正し、報告期限を「1週間以内」とする。さらに、症例定義も修正され、臨床条件を「（38℃以上の）発熱或いは呼吸器症状が出てから14日以内に肺炎或いはその他の合併症を発症し、集中治療室での治療が必要となるか死亡した場合」され、同時に今年9月1日以降、効力を持つものとする；公費医薬品の処方条件は変更なく、人々の権利や利益に影響を与えるものはない」と発表した。

疾病管制署(下稱疾管署)今(20)日表示，考量多元監測方式已能有效掌握COVID-19疫情，為降低醫院通報負荷，經諮詢專家後，修訂｢嚴重特殊傳染性肺炎｣名稱為｢新冠併發重症｣、通報時效為｢1週內｣，另修訂病例定義，調整臨床條件為｢發燒(≧ 38℃)或有呼吸道症狀後14 日(含)內出現肺炎或其他併發症，因而需加護病房治療或死亡者。｣，並自今年9月1日生效；公費藥物開立條件不變，不影響民眾權益。
疾管署說明，上週(8/13-8/19)新增274例COVID-19本土確定病例(併發症)，較前一週(8/6-8/12)新增347例下降，
