上海市衛生計生委は、張さんを浦東にある某医院普通外科の急診医師と発表。2014年1月11日に発症し、自ら服薬。1月15日に患者は症状がよくならない為に本院の外科急診部門を受診し、抗感染治療を受けた。1月17日3時、症状が更に悪化し、本院の急診部門にかかり、対症治療を受けたが好転せず、当日8時47分、ICUに移されて治療を受けたものの、1月18日4時59分、病院による全力治療の甲斐なく死亡。
1月18日20時52分、病院はヒト感染H7N9鳥インフルエンザの疑いがあることをネット通報。1月18日21時、浦東新区疾病管理センター（CDC）は、患者のスワブ検体を市CDCに再検査を依頼。1月19日2時30分、H7N9鳥インフルエンザウィルス核酸陽性との結果が出た。 市級の臨床専門家グループは患者の臨床症状や実験室の測定結果及び疫学調査の状況から、当該患者をヒト感染H7N9鳥インフルエンザ患者と確定診断した。

上海市卫生计生委通报，患者张某某，为浦东某医院普外科急诊医生。2014年1月11日发病，自行服药。1月15日，患者因症状未好转，至本院外科急诊就诊，予抗感染治疗。1月17日3时，患者因症状持续加重，至本院急诊就诊，予对症治疗后症状未缓解。当日8时47分，收入重症监护病房并予以积极救治。1月18日4时59分，患者经医院全力抢救无效死亡。
1月18日20时52分，医院以人感染H7N9禽流感疑似病例进行了网络直报。1月18日21时，浦东新区疾控中心将患者咽拭子标本送市疾控中心进行复核检测。1月19日2时30分检测结果为H7N9禽流感病毒核酸阳性。市级临床专家组依据病例的临床表现、实验室检测结果和流行病学调查情况，综合判定该病例为人感染H7N9禽流感确诊病例。
