2月1日、 香港漁農自然護理署（漁護署）のスポークスマンは、烏渓沙でみつかった隼の死体からH5N8亜型の高病原性鳥インフルエンザ陽性反応が得られたと発表した。
この隼の死体は以前に烏渓沙の銀湖で見つかったものだ。 1月29日に実施されたH5ウィルスの事前検査では陽性であったが、ハヤブサは香港に生息する冬の渡り鳥だ。

A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said today (February 1) that the carcass of a peregrine falcon found in Wu Kai Sha had been confirmed as positive for the H5N8 avian influenza virus after laboratory testing.
The bird’s carcass was found and collected at Lake Silver, Wu Kai Sha. It was suspected to be positive for the H5 virus after initial laboratory testing on January 29. The peregrine falcon is a common resident and winter visitor species.
The spokesman said no chicken farms are within three kilometres of where the dead bird was found. The AFCD will notify poultry farmers to remind them to strengthen precautionary and biosecurity measures against avian influenza. Letters will be issued to pet bird shop owners and licence holders of pet poultry and racing pigeons reminding them that proper precautions must be taken. The AFCD will continue to monitor the situation closely.

香港渔农自然护理署（渔护署）发言人（二月一日）表示，一只在乌溪沙捡走的游隼尸体对H5N8禽流感病毒测试确认呈阳性反应。
该只雀鸟尸体日前在乌溪沙银湖．天峰被发现及捡走，并于一月二十九日进行的H5病毒初步测试中呈阳性反应。游隼是香港常见的留鸟及冬候鸟。
发言人表示，发现雀尸地点的三公里范围内并没有鸡场。渔护署会通知家禽农户，提醒他们加强预防禽流感及生物安全措施。除家禽农户外，渔护署亦会去信雀鸟店主、持牌饲养宠物家禽和赛鸽人士，提醒他们采取适当预防措施。渔护署会继续密切留意有关情况。
