Hong Kong Food and Health Secretary Gao Yongwen said that Hong Kong diagnosed the first human infection case of H7N9 avian influenza, the patient (FT#142) is a 36-year-old Indonesian (Miyamoto’s note: This article revealed that the case is not Indian but Indonesian people) domestic helper. She went to Shenzhen and had eaten slaughtered live chicken there. The government has decided to raise the response level from ‘alert’ to ‘serious’ under its preparedness plan for influenza pandemic, and take a series of measures, including the suspension of the supply of live chickens from three registered poultry farms in Shenzhen to Hong Kong.
