大陸武漢市で発生した原因不明の肺炎について、疾管署（宮本注： 台湾の衛生福利部疾病管制署）のスタッフは、本日（01月03日）午後4時50分、最新の流行状況と処置に関する情報を受け取ったと発表。 発表によれば、これまでの累計患者数は44名になるが、その一部は華南海鮮市場の経営者であり、11名が重症、これまでに濃厚接触者121名が見つかっているが、不明ウィルスのヒトヒト感染や医療スタッフ間の感染についての明確なエビデンスは見つかってはいないものの既に鳥インフルエンザやインフルエンザ、或いはアデノウィルスが既に排除されており、新たなコロナウィルスの可能性があり、現時点での早急なウィルスの宿主及び感染環境を探し出し、その後の予防治療に結び付けねばならない。
疾管署の荘人祥副署長は、大陸の調査に基づき、「原因不明の患者の臨床症状は発熱が主で、少数の患者には呼吸困難がみられ、胸部Ｘ線写真では両肺に浸潤性の病変がみられ、この段階ではウィルス性肺炎と判断しているようだ。 重症患者以外のバイタルサインは安定しており、全て武漢市の医療機構で隔離治療流だ。 現地の衛生単位は全市の医療機構において関連患者の捜索と回顧成長すぉおこなっているとともに、華南海鮮城の衛生清掃活動は完了している」と語った。
荘人祥副署長は、「疾管署は、武漢から台湾への航空機の搭乗検疫措置を今も継続中で、各項予防整備措置が継続されており、旅客の入国時に発熱あるいはインフルエンザ様症状がある場合は自ら航空会社スタッフや空港・港の検疫スタッフに告知し； 近々大陸武漢地区を訪問する国民は、帰国後10日以内に発熱

大陸武漢市發生不明原因肺炎疫情，疾管署官員表示，於今日下午4：50接獲大陸回覆最新疫情及處置，目前已總計累計44例個案，部分為華南海鮮市場經營戶，其中重症11例，且已追踪到121名密切接觸者，目前不明病毒沒有明顯的人傳人及醫護人員之間的傳染，且已排除為禽流感、流感或腺病毒，可能為一新型冠狀病毒，當前需趕快找出病毒可能宿主及傳染環境，以利後續防治。
疾管署副署長莊人祥表示，依據大陸調查，不明原因肺炎個案臨床表現主要為發熱，少數病人呼吸困難，胸部X光片呈雙肺浸潤性病灶，初步研判為病毒性肺炎。除重症病例之外，其餘患者生命徵象穩定，均在武漢市醫療機構接受隔離治療，當地衛生單位在全市醫療機構進行相關病例搜索及回顧性調查，並已完成華南海鮮城的衛生清潔工作
莊人祥表示，疾管署將繼續維持現有對武漢直航台灣班機的登機檢疫措施，各項預防整備措施仍將繼續進行，並提醒旅客入國境時如出現發燒或類似流感症狀，應主動告知航空公司人員及機場港口的檢疫人員；近期曾前往大陸
