衛生防護センター梁挺雄総監は、「香港で三人目のA型鳥インフルエンザ（H7N9）の患者が出たが、外地からの輸入を疑っている。 患者(FT#157) は、 深水埗の65歳男性で、危篤状態にある」と発表した。

梁挺雄総監は、本日（1月8日）メディアに対して、この男性が
長期疾患を患っていたこと、
1月3日に発症したこと、
1月7日にクイーンマリー病院の 救急外来を受診したこと、
肺部感染症ということで入院したこと、
その後、病状が悪化したため、ICUに移されたこと、
公衆衛生化学検査サービス所で本日、彼のスワブ検体がH7N9ウィルス陽性反応となったことなど
を明かした。
梁挺雄総監は、「初歩データに拠ると、患者は1月1日から2日にかけて家族と深圳に行き、1月1日に活禽を販売しているウェットマーケット（宮本注：清潔を保つため何時も床を水で洗っている生鮮市場のこと）を訪れており、患者が香港にいる間は、深水埗北河街の市政府ビル入り口には行ったが、市街には入ってはいない」と語った。
患者は、現在隔離されている。
患者には1名の濃厚接触者がいるが、患者の家族であり、現時点では症状は出ておらず、入院して観察を受けている。 当局弁公室は、病院に対し、同一病棟の患者や医療スタッフと見舞人に対する医学観察を行っている。
梁挺雄総監は、 「H7N9が発見されて以来、夏期の7～8月に大陸では2件発生していたが、10月に入り、気温が低下してからはこれまで既に20人が見つかっており、夏期の10倍となっている」と指摘した。

Liang Tingxiong today (January 8, 2014) told the media that;
The man has a prolong disease.He became ill on January 3, 2014. He was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Mary Hospital for admission due to the lungs infection on 7 January. Afterward, his disease got worse, transferred to the ICU for further treatment. The Public Health Laboratory Services today confirmed that its nasopharyngeal secretions were positive for the H7N9 virus.
Liang Tingxiong told, according to preliminary information, the patient went to Shenzhen from January 1 to 2, 2014, and visited a wet market to buy live poultry on January 1, 2014. The patient, when he was in Hong Kong, went through the Sham Shui Po North River Street Municipal Government entrance, but did not enter the market in the town.
