台湾中央流行疫情指揮センターは、8月16日、「新たにCOVID-19確診症例が10例増えたが、それぞれ、本土症例8例、輸入症例2例となっている；更に、確診症例中、新たに0例が死亡した」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「本日、新たに国内症例8例が増えた（うち6例は在宅隔中或いは隔離期間満了検査で陽性となった人である：（宮本注：つまり、2週間或いは3週間を超えて感染が確認された事例が斯くも多く存在しているという情報を台湾政府が認めている！）が、10代から50代までの男性3人、女性5人であり、2021年8月10日から8月15日の間に発症していた。 患者分布は、新北市で6例、次いで台北市及び桃園市の各1例となっている； そのうち、6例の感染源は既に判明、2例は関連不明、0例が疫学調査中となっているが、関連調査は今なお進められている」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「最近隔離を解除された確診症例については、5月11日～ 8月14日迄に発表された14,644例中、既に13,178人が隔離を解除されており、確診患者総数の90.0％が隔離解除されたことになる」と指摘する。

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on Aug. 16 that there were 10 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan consisting of 8 local cases and 2 imported cases from abroad. There were 0 new deaths among the confirmed cases.
The command center said, the newly added 8 local cases (of which 6 cases were those who tested positive during home quarantine/isolation or after the expiry date of isolation) today are 3 males and 5 females, aged in their 10s and 50s, with onset dates between Aug 10 and August 15, 2021. The distribution of cases is 6 cases in New Taipei City, 1 case each in Taipei City and Taoyuan City; Out of 8 local cases, 6 cases are known their sources of infection, 2 cases’ relation is unknown, 0 case is under investigation. Related epidemic investigations are ongoing.
The command center pointed out that as for the recently released diagnosed cases from isolation, 13,178 people have been released from quarantine, among 14,644 confirmed cases announced from May 11 to August 14. The number of people released from quarantine has reached 90.0% of the confirmed cases.
According to the command center, there are two new cases of immigration from abroad today. Of which, the Case 15965 is a Taiwanese female in her 10s who has been vaccinated against COVID-19 and returned to Taiwan from the United States on August 2 with a negative test report within 3 days before the flight. 中央流行疫情指揮中心今(16)日公布國內新增10例COVID-19確定病例，分別為8例本土及2例境外移入；另確診個案中無新增死亡。
指揮中心表示，今日新增之8例本土病例(其中6例為居家隔離期間或期滿檢驗陽性者)，為3例男性、5例女性，年齡介於10多歲至50多歲，發病日介於今(2021)年8月10日至8月15日。個案分布為新北市6例、臺北市及桃園市各1例；其中6例為已知感染源、2例關聯不明，將持續進行疫情調查，以釐清感染源。
指揮中心指出，近期確診個案解隔離情形，5月11日至8月14日累計公布14,644位確診個案中，已有13,178人解除隔離，解隔離人數達確診人數90.0%。
