台湾中央流行疫情指揮センターは、8月21日、「新たにCOVID-19確診症例が10例増えたが、それぞれ、本土症例2例、輸入症例8例となっている；更に、確診症例中、新たに1例が死亡した」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「本日、新たに国内症例2例（うち0例は在宅隔中或いは隔離期間満了検査で陽性となった人である）が増えたが、台北市の40歳男性及び50代女性であり、2021年8月16日から8月19日の間に発症していた； そのうち、0例の感染源は既に判明、1例は関連不明、1例が疫学調査中となっているが、関連調査は今なお進められている」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「本日新たに増えた死亡例1例（第9244号）は、60代の男性で、慢性疾患歴は有するも関連暴露歴は無かった。 5月25日に発熱や鼻水といった症状が現れ、5月28日に病院で検査を受け、結果陽性となり、6月1日に入院治療、6月2日に確定診断され、6月12日に死亡した」と発表。
指揮センターは、「最近隔離を解除された確診症例については、5月11日～ 8月19日迄に発表された14,698例中、既に13,581人が隔離を解除されており、確診患者総数の92.4％が隔離解除されたことになる」と指摘する。

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on Aug. 21 that there were 10 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan consisting of 2 local cases and 8 imported cases from abroad. There was 1 new death among the confirmed cases.
The command center said, the newly added 2 local cases (of which 0 cases were those who tested positive during home quarantine/isolation or after the expiry date of isolation) today are 1 male in his 10s and 1 female in her 50s. Their onset date were between Aug 16 and August 19. The distribution of cases is 2 cases in New Taipei City; Out of 2 local cases, 0 cases are known their sources of infection, 1 case’s relation is unknown, 1 case is under investigation. Related epidemic investigations are ongoing.
The command center explained that one new death case (Case 9244) was added today. He was a male in his 60s having a history of chronic disease but no related contact history. He developed fever and runny nose on May 25. He went to a doctor for examination on May 28. After a positive test, he was hospitalized on June 1. He was diagnosed on June 2 and died on June 12.
The command center pointed out that as for the recently released diagnosed cases from isolation, 13,581 people have been released from quarantine, among 14,698 confirmed cases announced from May 11 to August 16. The number of people released from quarantine has reached 92.4% of the confirmed cases.
The command center explained that there are 8 new cases of immigration from abroad today, 7 males and 1 female, aged in their 10s to 60s, who entered Taiwan from the United States (Case 16018), India (Case 16019), Indonesia (Case 16020 to 16022), South Africa (Case 16023), Japan (Case 16024), and Albania (Case 16025). 中央流行疫情指揮中心今(21)日公布國內新增10例COVID-19確定病例，分別為2例本土及8例境外移入；另確診個案中新增1例死亡。
指揮中心表示，今日新增之2例本土病例(均非居家隔離期間檢驗陽性者)，為新北市40多歲男性及50多歲女性，分別於8月16日及8月19日發病；其中1例關聯不明、1例疫調中，將持續進行疫情調查，以釐清感染源。
指揮中心說明，今日新增1例死亡個案(案9244)，為60多歲男性，具慢性病史，無相關接觸史，5月25日出現發燒、流鼻涕等症狀，5月28日就醫採檢，檢驗陽性後於6月1日住院治療，6月2日確診，6月12日死亡。
指揮中心指出，近期確診個案解隔離情形，5月11日至8月19日累計公布14,698位確診個案中，已有13,581人解除隔離，解隔離人數達確診人數92.4%。
