疾病管理予防センター（以下、CDC）は、本日2月21日、わが国で5番目となるサル痘の確診症例を発表した。患者は、台湾北部の30代台湾人男性で、本年（2023年）1月～2月の間に海外旅行をしていたが、2月上旬に水疱や皮疹、咽頭痛、関節痛および全身の痛みなどの症状が現れ、医師による評価・検査の後に報告され、2月15日に陽性が確認されたことで、海外からの輸入症例と判定された。患者は現在隔離治療を受けている；疫学調査後、関連接触者計39名がリストアップされ、21日間の衛生教育と自己健康観察を受けているとした。

疾病管制署(下稱疾管署)今(21)日公布・我國第5例猴痘境外移入確定病例，為北部30多歲本國籍男性，於今(2023)年1-2月間有出國旅遊史，於2月上旬因身體陸續出現水泡、皮疹、喉嚨痛、關節痛及全身痠痛等症狀，經醫師評估後採檢通報，於２月15日確診陽性，研判為境外移入個案，目前於醫院隔離治療中；經疫調匡列相關接觸者共39名，已進行衛教並自我健康監測21天。
