10月28日、農業農村部新聞弁公室は、湖南省常徳市桃源県でアフリカ豚コレラ （宮本注： 以下『ASF』）が 検出されたと発表した。
10月27日21時、農業農村部は、湖南省動物疾病予防管理センターが検査に出したサンプルが中国動物衛生疫学センター（国家外来動物疾病研究センター）により、ASFであると確定診断されたとの中国動物疾病予防管理センター報告を受け取った。
陽性となったサンプルは、湖南省常徳市桃源県にある某養豚場からのもので、
当該養豚場では、飼育されていた7,684頭のうち、106頭が発症し、99頭が病死している。

On October 28, 2018, the Information Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced that an African Swine Fever epidemic was detected at Taoyuan County of Changde City in Hunan Province.
At 21 o’clock on October 27, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs received a report from the China Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center mentioning that the samples submitted by the Hunan Provincial Center for Animal Disease Control and Prevention were diagnosed as African swine fever by the China Center for Animal Health and Epidemiology (National Center for Animal Disease Research).
The samples turned out to be positive for ASF were from a certain pig farmer at Taoyuan County of Changde City in Hunan Province.
The farmer had 7,684 live pigs of which 106 pigs got sick and 99 died.
Immediately after the outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs sent a supervising team to the site. 10月27日21时，农业农村部接到中国动物疫病预防控制中心报告，湖南省动物疫病预防控制中心送检样品经中国动物卫生与流行病学中心 （国家外来动物疫病研究中心）确诊为非洲猪瘟。 阳性样品来自湖南省常德市桃源县某养殖场，该养殖场存栏生猪7684头、发病106头、死亡99头。
