10月12日、農業農村部新聞弁公室は、天津市薊州区でアフリカ豚コレラ （宮本注： 以下『ASF』）が 発生したと発表した。
10月12日17時、農業農村部は、中国動物衛生疫学センター （国家外来動物疾病研究センター）が、天津市動物疾病予防管理センターから検査に送付されたサンプルをASFと確定診断したとの中国動物疾病予防管理センター報告を受け取った。陽性反応を示したサンプルは 天津市薊州区侯家営鎮のある養豚場からのもので、当該養豚家にいたブタ639頭のうち292頭が発症、189頭が病死していた。

On October 12, 2018, the Information Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced that African Swine Fever epidemic occurred in Jizhou District of Tianjin City.
At 1700 on October 12, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs received a report from the China Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center. The samples submitted by the Tianjin Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center were diagnosed as African swine fever by the China Center for Animal Health and Epidemiology (National Center for Animal Disease Research). The positive samples were from a farmer in Houjiaying Town of Jizhou District, Tianjin City. The farm had 639 pigs in total, of which 292 pigs got sick and 189 died.
Immediately after the outbreak, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs sent a supervising team to the site.
