疾病管制署（以下CDC）は、本日11月28日、秋から冬にかけては呼吸器感染症が発生する季節であり、特に高齢者が最も感染しやすく、重症化や死に至るおそれがあると発表。65歳以上の高齢者の健康を保護し、肺炎球菌感染による重篤な合併症や死亡のリスク低減にむけ、CDCは既に本年（2023年）10月2日から肺炎球菌多糖体ワクチン（PPV23）23価の肺炎ワクチン接種の第一段階を開始しているが、さらに、11月27日からワクチン接種の第二段階として、PCV13（或いはPCV15）やPPV23のワクチン接種を一度も受けたことがない人にはPCV13を1回の公費接種が提供され、1年（高リスクグループは少なくとも8週間）以上の間をあけ、PPV23ワクチン接種がもう一度公費により提供される。
CDCによると、本年11月23日時点で、台湾では侵襲性肺炎球菌感染症例計243例が確認されており、うち34人が死亡；うち65歳以上が44.4％（108例）を占めており、症例数は2019年の同時期より少ない

疾病管制署(下稱疾管署)今(28)日表示，秋冬為呼吸道傳染病好發季節，尤其以長者最易受到感染，並導致重症及死亡。為積極維護65歲以上長者健康及降低因感染肺炎鏈球菌導致嚴重的併發症或死亡之機率，疾管署已於今(2023)年10月2日起推行第一階段對象接種23價肺炎鏈球菌多醣體疫苗(PPV23)，並自11月27日起展開第二階段接種作業，針對從未曾接種過PCV13(或PCV15)及PPV23者，提供1劑公費PCV13，間隔至少1年後(高風險對象間隔至少8週)再提供1劑公費PPV23接種。
