上水屠房（宮本注： これは上水祝運街15号にある屠殺場の『固有名詞』です）で一頭のブタサンプルからアフリカ豚コレラ（以下『ASF』）ウィルスが検出され、食物・衛生局の陳肇始局長は、当該屠房にいるブタは全て廃棄されねばならず、屠房もまた全面的な清掃と消毒をせねばならない、今晩、オペレーションを消毒活動完了まで暫時停止すると発表した。
陳肇始局長は記者会見の席上、漁農自然護理署が午後に関連の検査結果を確認の後、彼女が直ちに他部門会議を招集し、漁業護署や食物環境衛生署、食物安全センターと対応策を検討した。 ブタの廃棄措置（殺処分措置）は、ASFウィルスの屠房外への流出リスクを直ちに低減するためのものだと語った。

A sample of pigs at Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse was tested for African swine fever virus. The Secretary for Food and Health, Mr Chan Chan, announced that all pigs in the slaughterhouse shall be destroyed and the slaughterhouse shall be fully cleaned and disinfected. It will be suspended from work until the disinfection work is completed.
At the meeting with the media on the matter, Ms. Chan said that after the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department confirmed the test results in the afternoon, she immediately convened an inter-departmental meeting to discuss the response with the AFCD, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Centre for Food Safety. The destruction of pigs aims to reduce the risk of transmission of African swine fever virus outside the slaughterhouse as soon as possible.
She said that there are about 6,000 pigs in the Sheung Shui Slaughterhouse. The Administration expects that the supply of fresh pork will decrease in the coming days. However, as the Tsuen Wan Slaughterhouse is not affected and operates as usual, she believes that there will still be a small supply of live pigs in the market.
Chen Yu began to reiterate that African Swine Fever do not infect people and do not constitute a food safety risk. Pork can be eaten as long as it is fully cooked. She pointed out that the authorities will step up the inspection of pigs. At present, pigs with symptoms of African swine fever will be tested first, and other pigs will be strengthened in the future.
