台湾中央流行疫情指揮センターは、8月25日、「新たにCOVID-19確診症例が1例増えたが、それぞれ、本土症例0例、輸入症例1例（南アからの第16049号患者）となっている；更に、確診症例中、新たに1例が死亡した」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「第16049号患者は、南ア籍の20代男性だが、ワクチンは未接種で、出国前72時間以内の陰性証明書を携えて8月22日に就労のため来台。入境時に空港での検査後、防疫ホテルで隔離していたが、本日確定診断された。 患者は、台湾での症状は出ていないが、衛生単位は既に同じ便の接触者3人をリストアップし、在宅隔離とした； 他の接触者をリストアップ中である」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「本日新たに増えた死亡例1例（第15845号）は、70代女性で、慢性疾患歴および他の確診症例への関連暴露歴があった。 7月1日に別の理由で入院をしていたが、8月2日に病院で確診症例が出たために、この患者にも検査が手配され、8月4日に確診され、8月22日に死亡した」と発表。

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on Aug. 25 that there were 1 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan consisting of 0 local case and 1 imported case from South Africa (Case 16049). There was one (1) new death among the confirmed cases.
The command center stated that the Case 16049 is a South African male in his 20s who has not been vaccinated against COVID-19. He came to work in Taiwan on August 22, 2021 having a negative test report within 3 days before the flight. When he entered the country, he took quarantine at the airport and went to the epidemic prevention hotel for home quarantine. He was diagnosed today. The case was asymptomatic during his stay in Taiwan. The health unit has listed 3 people who had contact with the flight, all of whom were listed in home isolation; the rest of the contacts were listed.
The command center explained that the newly-increased death case (case 15845) was a female in her 70s having a history of chronic disease and contact history with other confirmed cases. She was hospitalized on July 1 for other reasons, and on August 2 because a patient was diagnosed in the hospital, the hospital arranged for the case to be examined. She was diagnosed on August 4 and died on August 22.
The command center pointed out that as for the recently released diagnosed cases from isolation, 13,626 people have been released from quarantine, among 14,733 confirmed cases announced from May 11 to August 23. The number of

中央流行疫情指揮中心今(25)日公布國內新增1例境外移入COVID-19病例(案16049)，自南非入境；另確診個案中新增1例死亡。
指揮中心表示，案16049為南非籍20多歲男性，未接種COVID-19疫苗，於今(2021)年8月22日來臺工作，持有搭機前3日內檢驗陰性報告，入境時在機場採檢後至防疫旅館居家檢疫，於今日確診。個案在臺期間並無症狀，衛生單位已匡列同班機接觸者3人，均列居家隔離；其餘接觸者匡列中。
指揮中心說明，新增之死亡個案(案15845)，為70多歲女性，具慢性病史及其他確診個案接觸史，7月1日因其他原因住院，8月2日因醫院有病患確診，故安排個案進行採檢，8月4日確診，8月22日死亡。
指揮中心指出，近期確診個案解隔離情形，5月11日至8月23日累計公布14,733位確診個案中，已有13,626人解除隔離，解隔離人數達確診人數92.5%。
