台湾中央流行疫情指揮センターは、8月17日、「新たにCOVID-19確診症例が18例増えたが、それぞれ、本土症例4例、輸入症例14例となっている；更に、確診症例中、新たに0例が死亡した」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「本日、新たに国内症例4例（うち2例は在宅隔中或いは隔離期間満了検査で陽性となった人である：（宮本注：つまり、2週間或いは3週間を超えて感染が確認された事例が斯くも多く存在しているという情報を台湾政府が認めている！）が増えたが、5歳未満から60代までの男性3人、女性1人であり、2021年8月16日から8月16日の間に発症していた。 患者分布は、台北市と新北市で各2例となっている； そのうち、2例の感染源は既に判明、2例は関連不明、0例が疫学調査中となっているが、関連調査は今なお進められている」と発表した。
指揮センターは、「最近隔離を解除された確診症例については、5月11日～ 8月15日迄に発表された14,653例中、既に13,195人が隔離を解除されており、確診患者総数の90.0％が隔離解除されたことになる」と指摘する。

The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on Aug. 17 that there were 18 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan consisting of 4 local cases and 14 imported cases from abroad. There were 0 new deaths among the confirmed cases.
The command center said, the newly added 4 local cases (of which 2 cases were those who tested positive during home quarantine/isolation or after the expiry date of isolation) today are 3 males and 1 female, aged in under 5 years old and 60s, with onset dates between Aug 16 and August 16, 2021. The distribution of cases is 2 cases each in Taipei City and New Taipei City; Out of 4 local cases, 2 cases are known their sources of infection, 2 cases’ relation is unknown, 0 case is under investigation. Related epidemic investigations are ongoing.
The command center pointed out that as for the recently released diagnosed cases from isolation, 13,195 people have been released from quarantine, among 14,653 confirmed cases announced from May 11 to August 15. The number of people released from quarantine has reached 90.0% of the confirmed cases.

中央流行疫情指揮中心今(17)日公布國內新增18例COVID-19確定病例，分別為4例本土及14例境外移入；另確診個案中無新增死亡。
指揮中心表示，今日新增之4例本土病例(其中2例為居家隔離期間陽性者)，為3例男性、1例女性，年齡介於未滿5歲至60多歲，發病日均為8月16日，個案分布為臺北市、新北市各2例；其中2例為已知感染源、2例疫調中，將持續進行疫情調查，以釐清感染源。
指揮中心指出，近期確診個案解隔離情形，5月11日至8月15日累計公布14,653位確診個案中，已有13,195人解除隔離，解隔離人數達確診人數90.0%。
指揮中心說明，今日新增14例境外移入個案，為8名男性、6名女性，年齡介於未滿5歲至60多歲，分別自美國(案15975、案15980)、英國(案15976、案15977)、緬甸(案15981至案15989)、澳洲(案15990)入境，
