中央流行疫情指揮センター（CECC）は、本10月15日、新型コロナウィルス肺炎（COVID-19、別名武漢肺炎）の輸入症例1例が新たに増えたと発表。 患者はフィリピン国籍の30代男性（患者番号 #531）で、今年9月17日に台湾に入国していたが、これまでの間無症状だった。
指揮センターは、
患者は、フィリピンから搭乗3日以内に検査をしており、9月17日の入国時及び10月1日に集中隔離期間満了前に行われた検査結果は全て陰性となった。
10月2日、隔離期間満了後に専用車両でホテルに到着し自主的な健康管理をしていたが、10月12日に専用車を手配し自費で検査を受けたところ、検査結果として弱陽性が得られたため、同日入院隔離となった。 念のために10月13日に再度検査を行った上で、本日確定診断（Ct価31、血清抗体IgM陰性、IgG陽性となった）された。
